Sample Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Kyoto or Osaka /Amanohashidate

Depending on either you leave from Kyoto or Osaka the limited express trains will take you to Amanohashidate in about 1h30 to 2h.

You can drop your luggage at your ryokan, 5 mins away from the station.

Then start your visit, viewing the Amanohashidate Sandbar from the mountains at either end of the bay. Take a sightseeing cruises around the bay or enjoy the sand beaches along the sandbar.

Overnight and dinner at your 3*** ryokan.
Monjusou or equivalent.

Day 2: Amanohashidate/Ine

After breakfast (included), get a taxi to Ine (approximately 50 mins), then drop your luggage at the tourist information.

Ine is blessed with rich nature and the best way to see the village and its funaya houses is from the sea. But also strolling along the streets, interacting with the townspeople.

In the evening it is very convenient to have meals in the village’s restaurants.

Overnight at your 3*** Funaya boat house.
Funaya Fuga or equivalent.

Day 3: Ine/Kyoto or Osaka

In the morning, wake up early and join the village residents to watch them catching their daily seafood by simply dropping a small cage or mondori, into the water below their funaya.

Then a taxi will bring you back to Amanohashidate, where you will catch the limited express train to Osaka or Kyoto.
