Most of visitors to Japan tend to travel to and visit only within Kyoto City. If you are tired of traveling major touristic sights or wish to avoid crowds, it’s really good idea to explore Amanohashidate.
Located in Miyazu Bay and covered with pine trees, the Amanohashidate Sandbar or “bridge in heaven”, is only two hours away from Kyoto Station.
Amanohashidate is counted as one of three most scenic views in Japan, and Ine, a traditional fishing village regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Japan.

Depending on either you leave from Kyoto or Osaka the limited express trains will take you to Amanohashidate in about 1h30 to 2h.
You can drop your luggage at your ryokan, 5 mins away from the station.
Then start your visit, viewing the Amanohashidate Sandbar from the mountains at either end of the bay. Take a sightseeing cruises around the bay or enjoy the sand beaches along the sandbar.

Ine is blessed with rich nature and the best way to see the village and its funaya houses is from the sea. But also strolling along the streets, interacting with the townspeople.

In the morning, wake up early and join the village residents to watch them catching their daily seafood by simply dropping a small cage or mondori, into the water below their funaya.
Then a taxi will bring you back to Amanohashidate, where you will catch the limited express train to Osaka or Kyoto.
