Sample Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Travel Day to Fukuoka

Upon arrival at Fukuoka Airport or Fukuoka Hakata Station, transfer to your hotel by shared bus , train or private car. Depending on whether or not your purchased any discount passes, as well as a phone SIM card or pocket Wi-Fi, you may have to pick them up and/or get them activated.

Your hotel is in a good location close to river with Yatai stalls and downtown area. You can meet with an English-speaking guide and embark on a private tour of Fukuoka or enjoy your hotel’s neighborhood on your own.

Overnight at your 4**** hotel.
Hakata Excel Hotel Tokyu or equivalent.

Day 2: Fukuoka / Kumamoto

In the morning, take a shinkansen to Kumamoto.

The city is known for its Castle, one of Japan’s Three Great Castles and for Suizenji Park.

Overnight at your 3*** hotel.
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kumamoto or equivalent.

Day 3: Mount Aso

Take the day to enjoy scenic Mount Aso and explore all the sights of the Mount’s region, including Daikanbo, Nakadake volcano and more.

Day 4: Kumamoto / Kagoshima / Yakushima

After your checkout, take a shinkansen journey from Kumamoto to Kagoshima (approximately 1h).

Then in Kagoshima you will then transfer to the Rocket hydrofoil for a 2h30r cruise to Yakushima Island.

Yakushima Island, which became Japan’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, is recognised as a valuable natural heritage and is blessed with warm ocean currents and lush greenery.

Day 5: Yakushima

For the day, you can book a tour, but we recommend to rent a car.

There are many small villages on a single main road that connects them, but the mountainous, wooded interior remains undeveloped and provides a plethora of hiking adventures.

Day 6: Yakushima / Kagoshima

In the morning, take the hydrofoil back to Kagoshima.

You will then take a night ferry to Amani-Oshima (approximately 11h).

Overnight onboard.

Day 7/8: Amani-Oshima

Summer is the season for sun, sea, sand and the Amami Islands are a chain of eight inhabited islands.

These islands are blessed with coral reefs in the surrounding clear waters, a diverse range of beaches, mangroves, virgin forests, and a unique cultural heritage.

Native Sea Amami Adan On The Beach or equivalent.

Day 10: Amani-Oshima / Yoronjima

In the afternoon you will board a flight for Yorojima (approximately 30 mins).

Day 11/12: Yoronjima

Yoronjima looks like an angel-fish in shape, bounded by azure seas and coral reefs, and colored by white sands, the island has been called a “pearl of the orient” because of its striking beauty.

Diving, glass-bottom boat rides, riding a jet ski or kayak, and wind sailing are all options.

Day 13: Yoronjima / Ishigaki

In the afternoon you will board a flight for Ishigaki, Japan’s southernmost city, through Naha Okinawa (approximately 5h with transit).

Day 14/15: Ishigaki

Ishigaki Island has a beautiful coastline with magnificent beaches and excellent hiking trails in the center of the island.

High visibility water around the island is full of coral reefs and marine life, making scuba diving the most popular activity for tourists in Ishigaki. The island has been ranked the number one Japanese diving destination for more than 16 consecutive years.
