Upon arrival at Fukuoka Airport or Fukuoka Hakata Station, transfer to your hotel by shared bus , train or private car. Depending on whether or not your purchased any discount passes, as well as a phone SIM card or pocket Wi-Fi, you may have to pick them up and/or get them activated.
Your hotel is in a good location close to river with Yatai stalls and downtown area. You can meet with an English-speaking guide and embark on a private tour of Fukuoka or enjoy your hotel’s neighborhood on your own.

In the morning, take a shinkansen to Kumamoto.
The city is known for its Castle, one of Japan’s Three Great Castles and for Suizenji Park.

After your checkout, take a shinkansen journey from Kumamoto to Kagoshima (approximately 1h).
Then in Kagoshima you will then transfer to the Rocket hydrofoil for a 2h30r cruise to Yakushima Island.
Yakushima Island, which became Japan’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, is recognised as a valuable natural heritage and is blessed with warm ocean currents and lush greenery.

For the day, you can book a tour, but we recommend to rent a car.
There are many small villages on a single main road that connects them, but the mountainous, wooded interior remains undeveloped and provides a plethora of hiking adventures.

In the morning, take the hydrofoil back to Kagoshima.
You will then take a night ferry to Amani-Oshima (approximately 11h).
